I own a ACD middle pedal but I use it as two single pedals now, so the middle part is safe in it's box. I also like to watch the beaters from time to time but I never found it a problem that I could not see the beaters playing the middle pedal, you can still see your feet and knees. If you want to get an idea of what your beaters are doing you can place a rod in each pedal's beater slot so you get an idea of the movement. I hope this is helpful enough ;-)

Hahaha, I know. I put the head on a 8 lug free-floating snare with cast hoops. When I sold the snare I wanted to put new heads on it. The cast hoop was completely bend inwards and the head was stuck. Had to bolt the hoop upside down to a workbench to remove the head. Not sure if I want to torture the snare I have now, the same way.

That's a good tip, I think i'm gonna try that.
20 years ago or so I used a remo kevlar marching batter-head I liked that too but then I stopped playing the drums ;-) Might try it again.

Nice video. Love your snare sound, do you use snarewires ? Or are they turned off ?

Nice video, I learned a few things.

Looks great.
Not for me, but I love how inventive people are with these 'frankenstein contraptions'

I find it very useful for my style (if I have any ) of playing. I play a 14" hihat on my left and a 13" on my right. I play double bass and can keep my heel on the bassdrum pedal when playing either hihat so I don't have to move my leg. I can switch between hihats very fast for some cool stereo effects ( at least that is my plan )

Do you use the spur screws (or whatever they're called ) and twist 'm into the carpet ?
What also may help is when the pedals are in place, loosen and tighten the driveshaft so you make sure both pedals are flat on the floor and not pushing each other away.

I think it looks very nice and very adjustable. I'm not sure about the bottom 'plate' though, but that's personal I guess

Well, I'm dutch and living in Germany. Started playing drums 28 years ago and did everything wrong, learned the wrong techniques just wanted to go faster without proper rehearsal. Sold everything eventually. Until 4 years ago I found me a 100 euro drumkit in my hometown and started to do proper exercises, learning rudiments and slowly getting where I could have been years ago And most important having fun playing and getting better.
Found ACD on the internet looking for a middle pedal (I played a Offset Eclipse middle pedal at the time). I now use it as two single pedals playing with two bassdrums and decided that is the way I wanna play. The middle part may come in handy in a practise room.

Zitat
Well, I think it should be a discussion, simply because the opinions and reasons are just interesting. I'm asking out of curiosity.
I agree, the reason why is an interesting one.
edit: The reason why I play strapdrive is the best reason there is: Dennis told me it was the way to go
Dennis knows his pedals and I told him what I played at that time and his advice was to go for straps. If he told me to go for direct drive I would have gone for that.
As I said, I like my strap drives, but maybe I like direct drive too, I don't know. I don't like messing around with settings to much, I did that with throne hight but there's a point where you have to say to yourself: this is it , this is what you have to work with.

Zitat von Dennis im Beitrag #3 A double remote hihat (with one footboard for both) has already been accomplished. Ramon from the Netherlands (also active here) has it and it seems to work fine. - maybe he's able to share a few pictures if he sees this topic :)
Yes, still got it and it works like a charm. I wanted to make a video a long time ago, maybe this topic helps me to finally do it. I was thinking of 3 remote hats from the same pedal, one left one right and one in the middle.

I don't know if this should be a discussion I love my strap drives, but let me get used to some direct drives and I won't go back to strap and vice versa.
I still have my pedals the way Dennis sent 'm to me but I think when I change the geometry I probably won't like 'm anymore untill I get used to the setup.
Just my 2 (euro)cents
