Hello!

This is more or less a summary of the Phantom's current state along with some potentially useful information. :)

First things first: The Phantom will become the 2nd pedal in the ACD family, and the Darwin will remain the top model in the lineup with all its options.
The thing is, that, besides the amount and complexity of parts, it takes quite some time and effort to finish each pedal. On the other hand, this makes the Darwin the pedal it is and I do not want to sacrifice any of this pedal's possibilities just to expand or outsource certain steps (which is also not in my interest). Everybody who's interested in my work deserves to get a product with the highest possible quality and service standard and this will remain my top priority.

The Phantom is a pedal that is supposed to fill the gap between the Darwin and the upgrades I offer for 3rd party pedals. It's quite a bit easier to machine, and assemble and allows me to not only offer it at a more competitive price point but also to potentially keep a little inventory and maybe be able to offer it without the necessity of a long waiting list.

The philosophy behind this one is to offer a simple pedal with the same well-balanced performance of the Darwin in its basic setup.
The Phantom will still provide all basic adjustment options (beater & footboard angle, spring tension,..) along with a symmetrical layout (in a double pedal configuration) as well as a dedicated true left and right pedal. Having a simple and more affordable option with the same quality standards as all the other gear I‘m offering seems to be on the bucket list for a lot of you and I hope the Phantom could be the option worth considering.

At the moment, I do plan to have the first small series of the Phantom ready in the spring of 2023. There's no preorder option (since I learned the hard way that this more than very likely stresses me out ;)) - I'll post here and send out a newsletter as soon as the first pedals are ready and listed to purchase in my online shop.
The pedal will be available as a single or double pedal (left & right) in a longboard configuration and the popular fast & powerful strap drive setup. It will also feature a strong and easy-to-adjust quick-release hoop clamp. - I also plan on having this hoop clamp design as a retrofit option for the Darwin in case anyone's looking for a quick-release solution that really stays in place.

The double pedal can also easily split into two singles (similar to the Darwin) just by removing the driveshaft (additionally the slave beater assembly can also be removed easily if you’re after a very clean look). A matching HiHat based on the Darwin HiHat and Remote HiHat is also something I'm planning on offering.

Since the prototypes have proven to work nicely and the final design has been set* it’s time for the next step!
(*a few minor changes to the pictured prototype below were necessary to get rid of some quirks and make machining and assembling of the parts a bit smoother)

Sorry, I meant to reply with more details way sooner but it has been a bit too busy for that recently.
I still owe you a longer reply but to leave at least a short update I can say that parts for the first 10 double pedals are done and currently at the anodizing facility for their surface treatment.

This will most likely take until next week and after that I'll be able to set the first pedals up, take some pictures, write some stuff together and finally publish everything :-)
