If you are unsatisfied with your current pedals , you’ re on the right place here Dennis makes some great upgrades for different pedals,( …ask yourself why …)
But he makes also a lot better pedals If you want a lot of different settings : Darwin A bit cheaper, a little less settings ,but same quality and play-fun : Phantoms.
Good luck

My opinion is: buy a set of Phantoms Better pedal, better quality , and so much more fun to play . We did also some upgrades on iron cobra’s because Darwin’s are much expensive to tama’s But phantoms are every penny worth and a lot cheaper than Darwin’s A Tama will never be reach the quality or fun to play, sorry , we experienced ourselves Spend just a few euro’s more for a real great set of pedals We changed also from tama to Phantoms . You won’t regret Good luck

Why a choice for design of footboard? Phantom’s are great the way they are. Acd pedals are great also in design

Dennis is an awesome, very kind and professional guy. Things he create are very good.

Nice things about the phantoms: When you have a gig and only have to use 1 pedal, take the slave pedal and you get the same feel as the right pedal, Only mount the beater…. We didn’ t find a pedal like the , the feel is always different .
And adjustments like some other brands have, you won’t miss them. Just because this pedal doesn’t need those “extra’s “

groovedetector, Nothing more to say about , it’s a awesome pedal .

We have the N+1 beater With the light and heavy disk’s The heavy disk is favourite here , without the weight , We had cobra’s 600 twin , but strap driven So much smoother
But 2weeks ago we received the phantom’s What a difference, it plays so easy and quick, but the footboard is like glued at your foot . Respons and reaction is so good, And the balance in the pedal is perfect
But with the upgrades you will feel much difference Adjust your pedals lighter and start playing . You wil find a different setting for your pedal
Maybe the Spring Geometry Upgrade for Tama is also an nice upgrade

Is it maybe possible to put a strip next to the thickened part….

Take your time , Dennis. Do not hurry. You also need time to relax. We will notice when first pedal are ready. All good things come slowly.

Has anyone tried the Phantom yet? I am curious about your impression.
It looks awesome

The only thing I can say : if you buy a Darwin, and I guess also for the Phantom ( awesome name) , you are playing this pedal for a long time. Maybe for the rest of your life.
We are still paitient ….. almost half June …. 😂

First of all , as a technician I have seen enough parts of ACD to know how precise and nice everything is made …. With love and passion.
I've disassembled 2 different brands of pedals, and as a tech it's disappointing to see how poorly made they were. Actually there should be no standard brands of threads here at all. every acd upgrade on such a pedal is already an improvement for this kind of pedals. Actually quite crazy, if you look at the costs. That’s why we like the nice products of Dennis And waited for ……

Im following Dennis over a long time , and saw a lot of ideas , and yes Acd pedals are so much better made . The thing I noticed is that there are a lot pedals which have some details which I saw before in ideas of Dennis , also before Darwin’s . Like the clamp adjustment. I’m not talking about copying. Sometimes more than one person has a same idea. But IF someone makes it with your idea , you really can be proud. And by the way big company’s are also searching and watching on internet , en “using” ideas ….. Some ideas are as old as Middle Ages. So I can’t tell …. But on the Pearl the clamp system is a little bit cheap created.
Did you ever tried a tama imperial vintage pedal and then the new classic pedal , then play a iron cobra …. We loved the vintage most , even while it was so old , only the construction is not as stable as these days is normal . The iron cobra was nice but isn’t a decent pedal , and has some upgrades from Acd . We put other bearings ( specials) in it , so the bearings are fitting much better, and rolling easier .
Better we could have bought the Darwin’s then , because special bearings and upgrades costs also a lot . And still not playing perfect . We are just big fans of what Dennis makes. Just quality ! My son is proud on the Acd parts he probably he he has his 100% Acd pedal in summer .

I know Dennis is doing good things for several years…. Why….?
Look what this factory did… Look at the hoop clamp en all other details

Hello Baalthamor, I’m Mic , If you understand mechanical movements, You can understand why belt driven smooth and efficient is , compared to direct drive. I can try to explain , but isn’t possible in short therms
See it as a crank / piston vs rotating the wheel of your bicycle . A belt will roll off very smooth , that’s the difference . The force on the footboard wil be almost lineair. We have here a iron cobra 600twin pedal , and the belts from Dennis makes it a lot smoother and nicer to play..
But I agree the phantoms are awesome …..

“but d af los cheap “low speed” bearing “
Should be : but also cheap low speed bearings.
Lucky we are with a developer like Dennis . He designs and makes nice drum stuff. I hope we soon can order a Phantom pedal…. We wait in patience….

You buy or already bought a Acd pedal….👍😊

Strap feels more lineair, more like chain, but with a smoother feeling.
